The Hands-on History collection offers a variety of activities and projects to help students of all ages engage in a meaningful way with diverse individuals, events and cultures in history.

Interactive and multidisciplinary activities such as art projects, science experiments, games and challenges allow history to come alive in the classroom or at home. Each lesson contains an instructional video accompanied by supporting educational resources that will foster creativity, critical thinking, engagement and teamwork.

Some activities may require additional free or low-cost materials to complete.

About the Museums

Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown are open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s days. Jamestown Settlement is located on State Route 31 near the Colonial Parkway in James City County, just southwest of Williamsburg and adjacent to Historic Jamestowne. The American Revolution Museum at Yorktown is located on Route 1020 in Yorktown, near Yorktown Battlefield and Historic Yorktown.
