Rick Atkinson is a historian and award-winning author of "The British Are Coming: The War for America, Lexington to Princeton, 1775-1777," the first volume in his Revolution Trilogy. The second volume, "The Fate of the Day: The War for America, Fort Ticonderoga to Charleston, 1777-1780," published this year, is a New York Times bestseller. Atkinson also is the author of seven other works of narrative history, including the Liberation Trilogy about the role of the U.S. military during World War II in the Mediterranean and Western European theaters.
